Our History
Creating Te Whiri Ora Right Service Right Time
Right Service Right Time (RSRT) is a collaboration of over 40 non-government social service providers in the Canterbury area. This collaboration has been operating since 2010. It has provided a recognised point of entry for tamariki, rangatahi and their whānau presenting with a wide range of issue and professionals requesting support for tamariki and whānau.
In 2021 Right Service Right Time was awarded the contract for bringing together a variety of cross-sector services to support whānau as part of the Oranga Tamariki transition of the ‘Children’s Team’ to local community-based providers. This transition occurred on 1st April 2021. Since then, RSRT has undertaken a co-design process to develop completely new principles of operating, service pathway and practice framework. This co-design process involved input from whānau and multiple-sector agencies and multiple-disciplinary professionals from across the Canterbury region including those from Ashburton and North Canterbury. The new service was named Te Whiri Ora – Whānau Weaving Wellbeing. In 2022 as a result of its transformational changes, Oranga Tamariki reduced resources for hundreds of charities across New Zealand, including Te Whiri Ora.
Currently Te Whiri Ora and Right Service Right Time have merged to provide a joined-up service that offers a continuum of support to tamariki, rangatahi and their whānau from those experiencing one challenge to those experiencing multiple challenges in their lives. The merged service has been renamed Te Whiri Ora Right Service Right Time, Weaving Wellbeing.
The agencies hosting the Kaiwhiri employed to implement Te Whiri Ora Right Service Right Time are Presbyterian Support Upper South Island, Purapura Whetu Trust and St John of God Waipuna. All of these agencies have experience in collaborating with one another and providing services to tamariki, rangatahi and whānau.
